Since I know about the warranty (I also have a 2009 JSW 2.0 TDI with 330,000 miles :-D) I looked closely at the 3.0 warranty. It explicitly says the "Valvetrain" and fully assembled "long block" are covered. IMO the timing chain is an integral part of a fully assembled long block's valve train.
